Ontario resident's $1 million lotto win is a reminder to always check your email

One lucky Ontario man named Saptharishi Sairam Ramadass won Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth $1 million in the Dec. 21 Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Gold Ball Draw.

The winning ticket was purchased online from the OLG lottery app.

Because of OLG lottery subscription, Ramadass got email notification about his huge win. "If it wasn't for my subscription, I would have missed out on this win," he said.

Ramadass was overjoyed to see the prize amount and told his wife right away, saying, "She was absolutely excited too!"

The winner plans to take his family on a tropical Bahamas cruise and the win will also help him to retire earlier than planned.

Lotto 6/49 is one of three national lottery games in Canada. Winning numbers are drawn by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) every Wednesday and Saturday, executed with a random number generator.
