Lucky Third Ticket Delivers Huge $1 Million Surprise in Michigan

An Oakland County man is celebrating a life-changing win after hitting a $1 million jackpot on the Michigan Lottery’s $1,000,000 Cash Spectacular instant game.

The 48-year-old winner, who decided to stay anonymous, said the lucky moment came after buying three scratch-off tickets during a quick stop at a store in Ann Arbor.

  • The first two tickets were losers
  • The third ticket turned into a $1 million surprise

“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” the winner shared. “It feels amazing knowing this will help give our family more financial security and a better future for our kids.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Main Street Convenience, a Mobil gas station on South Main Street in Ann Arbor.

Instead of taking annual payments, the winner chose a one-time lump sum payout of $693,000. He says one of his biggest goals now is setting up college funds for his children.

Michigan has seen some huge lottery wins recently. One of the biggest was the Breakfast Club lottery group, which claimed an incredible $842 million Mega Millions jackpot in June 2024. The group reportedly planned to buy a Florida home and enjoy more travel.

At the same time, lottery officials continue reminding players to double-check their tickets. In 2024, a Powerball ticket worth $250,000 sold in Bloomfield Hills was never claimed, and the money eventually went to Michigan’s School Aid Fund.
