North Carolina Newlyweds Score $1 Million Powerball Win on Labor Day
A newlywed couple from North Carolina experienced an unforgettable Labor Day weekend at the beach, returning home with a Powerball ticket valued at $1 million.
April Royal and her husband Eric purchased the $2 Powerball ticket during their beach vacation at a Circle K in Southport.
However, they didn't check the ticket until their drive back to Fayetteville on Monday, leading them to pull over and confirm their astonishing win.
"We're still in shock," April Royal expressed. "And here I am, driving in all of Labor Day traffic."
The Royals claimed their $1 million prize at the North Carolina lottery headquarters in Raleigh, ultimately receiving $712,501 after mandatory federal and state tax deductions.
Their plans for the windfall include investments, settling some bills, and commemorating their recent July wedding with a well-deserved honeymoon, as shared by North Carolina Education Lottery officials.
