North Carolina man thinks he only won $100 until he saw ticket closely

Barry Bruce was about to leave a store in North Carolina when something told him to go back and buy a lottery ticket.
The last-minute hunch won him $100,000, according to lottery officials in a July 12 news release.
“I really was about to walk out,” Bruce told lottery officials. “My mind just told me to go back and buy the ticket.”
Bruce, who lives in Danville, Virginia, bought his $25 Spectacular Riches scratch-off on a whim from the Jones Exxon in Stanley, according to lottery officials.
When Bruce first scratched off his prize, he thought he’d won $100, lottery officials said. Once he realized it was actually a six-figure prize, he said he was in shock.
“I was just like, ‘Wow,’” he told lottery officials.
Bruce took home $71,017 after taxes and plans to use the winnings to remodel his home and help out his family, lottery officials said. Stanley is about 20 miles northwest of Charlotte.
