A $2 Powerball ticket turned into a $1 million payday for George Boston of Warrenton, North Carolina, after he returned from a trip to New York.
Boston learned that a lucky ticket worth $1 million had been sold in his hometown. When he checked the ticket sitting on his table, he realized the big winner was him.
“Oh wow, I got a match,” Boston told NC Education Lottery officials.
The excitement didn’t stop there. He called his wife and children right away, but nobody answered. When his daughter finally called back, Boston delivered the news with excitement: “I’m a winner! I’m a winner!”
