$1 Million Scratch Ticket Sold in Massachusetts as New Year Kicks Off

Massachusetts wrapped up New Year’s Eve with some big lottery wins, and one lucky player is officially starting the year $1 million richer.

The seven-figure prize came from a $5 scratch ticket called “$1,000,000 Winter Winnings,” a game that only launched back in October. Out of three top $1 million prizes, two have now been claimed, leaving just one still up for grabs.

The winning ticket was sold at a Raceway gas station in Dracut, making it a memorable stop for one very fortunate customer.

But that wasn’t the only win making headlines. Just a day earlier, another player grabbed a $200,000 top prize from an “Elf Cashword” ticket bought in Worcester. That game still has two more $200,000 prizes waiting to be claimed.

Here’s a quick snapshot of other recent wins across the state:

  • ? $100,000 Mass Cash prize won on a ticket from Amherst

  • ? 552 prizes worth $600 or more claimed in a single day

  • ? Notable wins included 39 in Boston, 20 in Worcester, and 8 in Springfield

Looking back at the biggest win of the year so far, the top prize in 2025 was a $1 million-a-year-for-life jackpot from a “Lifetime Millions” scratch ticket. That life-changing ticket was sold in Springfield and claimed in July.
