Oregon is getting a major boost this year as more than $887 million from lottery proceeds heads back into the state. That money—pulled from the 2025 fiscal year—helps fuel everything from public schools to state parks and veteran services.

What’s cool is how much of that impact comes simply from people playing their favorite lottery games. As Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells puts it, playing doesn’t just create winners—it also supports local businesses and pours money directly into communities.

A few standout highlights:

• 12 Oregon players scored prizes worth $1 million or more

• That includes four Powerball and four Oregon Megabucks wins

• About $9 million of the transfer came from unclaimed prizes

This year’s total does come in slightly lower—around $60 million less than last year—mostly because certain administrative savings from 2024 didn’t carry over.

 

Still, nearly a billion dollars going right back into Oregon? That’s a win for everyone.
