North Carolina man plans to help daughter pay for college with $100,000 lottery win

A lucky man from North Carolina named Jamie Johnson won a whopping sum of $100,000 playing N.C. Lottery’s 200X The Cash game. 

The winning ticket was sold at the Handy Mart on W B McLean Drive in Cape Carteret. The store will receive a bonus of $1000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

He called his wife right away to tell her the good news, and she thought he was lying at first. He had to meet up with her to show her the ticket.

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took $71,259 after state and federal taxes. the release said.

He said he plans to use the money to do some home repairs and help pay for his daughter’s college tuition.

North Carolina has one of the United States' youngest lottery systems, having been enacted in 2005.
