N.C. man wins $1 million Jumbo Bucks lottery game

His wife ‘thought it was a fake’ — but man’s huge NC lottery win will help him retire

A lucky man from N.C. won a whopping sum of $1 million playing lottery with North Carolina Education Lottery’s '$10 Jumbo Bucks ticket'.

The winning ticket was sold at Fuel Market in New Bern, North Carolina. The store will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket. 

The winner picked up his prize on Friday and opted to take home a lump sum amount. After state and federal tax withholdings, he left the lottery headquarters with $426,063.

The winner told lottery officials that this huge win will help him retire early.

The North Carolina Education Lottery (NCEL) is run by the government of North Carolina.

The revenue distributions are as follows: 51% was paid out in prizes, 38% was transferred into the education fund, 7% was paid to the retailers who sold lottery tickets, and 4% went to general lottery expenses.
