Michigan Woman Thinks She Won $10,000, Then Learns She Hit $634,679 Jackpot
A Michigan woman got the kind of lottery surprise she never expected.
Margaret Sheppard, 65, stopped at Lincoln Park Smokers & More in Lincoln Park on August 26 to buy a Powerball ticket. She also decided to try a Jackpot Slots Fast Cash ticket.
At first, Sheppard thought she had hit a $10,000 prize after checking the ticket against the store’s Fast Cash jackpot sign. She told the clerk she had won, but said she was disappointed that she had missed the jackpot, which was worth more than $600,000.
Then came the shocking news.
The clerk checked her ticket and told her she had actually won the $634,679 jackpot.
“I thought I was going to have a heart attack,” Sheppard recalled.
The clerk even walked her to her car after the stunning discovery. She signed the ticket and immediately called her husband, Toney, to share the good news.
How She’ll Spend the Money
After claiming the prize at Michigan Lottery headquarters with her husband, Sheppard said she plans to:

- 🎢 Take her grandchildren to Disney World
