Michigan woman almost faints after realizing discarded scratch-off ticket was a $1 million winner

A woman from mid-Michigan was left stunned after realizing that a scratch-off ticket she had discarded with some garbage was actually worth $1 million.

The 30-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, had purchased the winning ticket for the Michigan Lottery's Sizzling Hot 7's instant game from Hansen’s Quik Stop in Ovid, located approximately 30 miles northeast of Lansing.

The woman said that she always tries out new instant tickets when they are released and had bought two Sizzling Hot 7's tickets during a visit to the store.

After scratching the tickets in her car, she assumed that both were non-winners and tossed them into a bag with some other garbage.

She opted to receive a lump sum payment of around $693,000 instead of the full prize amount spread out over 30 annuity payments.

The winner plans to use the money to purchase a new home and invest the remainder of her winnings.
