Michigan Man Wins $6.79 Million Lotto 47 Jackpot
A 48-year-old man from Grand Traverse County, Michigan, is celebrating a massive $6.79 million Lotto 47 jackpot win after matching all six numbers in the August 15 drawing.
The winning numbers were 04-16-28-30-36-37. His ticket was purchased at Northland Food Center, located at 2377 East M-113 in Kingsley.
The winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim his prize. He chose a one-time lump-sum payment of $4.7 million instead of receiving the money through an annuity.
Winner Plans House Purchase and Travel
The anonymous winner said he regularly plays Lotto 47 and other draw games, believing that playing is the first step toward winning.
He checked the results through the Michigan Lottery app the day after the drawing and couldn't believe what he saw.
“When I saw I matched all six and won the $6.79 million jackpot, I wanted to scream!” he recalled, describing the moment as unreal.
With his newfound fortune, he plans to buy a house, take a few trips and invest some of the money.
Michigan Lottery Winners and Unclaimed Prizes
Michigan's last Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot win came in June 2024, when the Breakfast Club lottery group claimed an $842 million prize. The group planned to purchase a home in Florida and travel.
However, not every winning ticket leads to a payout. A Fantasy 5 ticket worth $197,766, sold in Covert in 2025, went unclaimed. The money was ultimately directed to Michigan's School Aid Fund.
