A 76-year-old St. Clair County man just turned his retirement dreams into reality — thanks to a $1.35 million win from the Michigan Lottery’s Diamond Wild Time Progressive Fast Cash game.

He bought the lucky ticket at Algonac Wine & Liquor on Michigan Street in Algonac, about 30 miles east of Sterling Heights. The player, who chose to stay anonymous, said he noticed the Fast Cash jackpot had climbed past $1 million and decided to take a shot.

“When I got home, I saw I had a match with ‘Jackpot’ underneath,” he said. “I scanned the ticket on the Lottery app just to be sure — and when it confirmed my $1.35 million win, I couldn’t believe it!”

According to Lottery officials, the man scored half of a record-breaking $2.7 million progressive jackpot, which continues to grow and now stands at $1.7 million.
