National Lottery Celebrates 50 Years of Heroic Military College in Tlalpan
Mexico’s National Lottery marked the 50th anniversary of the Heroic Military College’s Tlalpan campus with a special commemorative draw featuring the institution on its lottery ticket.
The ceremony brought together National Lottery Director General Olivia Salomón, Brigadier General Francisco Javier Zubia González, cadets, and military personnel at the college’s facilities.
A Ticket Celebrating Five Decades
For the special draw, 2.4 million tickets featuring the Tlalpan campus were printed and distributed through lottery sales points across Mexico.
The campus officially opened in Tlalpan on September 13, 1976, after the college moved from its former location in Popotla. Designed by architect Agustín Hernández Navarro, the complex combines modern structures with elements inspired by pre-Hispanic architecture.

Military Training Continues to Evolve
The Heroic Military College has expanded its programs over the years. Women were first admitted in 2007, while their participation in officer-training programs for Infantry, Cavalry, and Armored branches expanded beginning with the 2021–2022 academic year.
The college also introduced a Public Security bachelor’s degree in 2019, designed to prepare specialized officers for the National Guard.
The Tlalpan anniversary is also connected to the college’s broader history. In 2023, the institution celebrated its 200th anniversary, marking its founding in 1823.
Capricorn Takes the Grand Prize
The commemorative event also featured Zodiac Draw 1761, where Capricorn ticket No. 2376 won the 7 million-peso Grand Prize for one series. The series was designated for sale in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas.
Other major prizes included:
- 1.1 million pesos: Capricorn No. 0605, with the series designated for Mazatlán, Sinaloa
- 1.1 million pesos: Sagittarius No. 0237, with the series designated for Mexico City
- 22,622 prizes and refunds were included in the draw
The National Lottery used the commemorative ticket to spotlight the college’s five decades in Tlalpan while celebrating its changing role in military education.
