Garland Hare bought the ticket at Salem Mini Mart, on West Main Street in Salem and matched winning numbers were 5-9-15-16-17, but he was not able to match the Mega Ball 25.

He selected the winning numbers using a combination of family birthdays and anniversaries, according to Virginia Lottery. 

Hare who works in computer programming, and said he intends to pay bills with his winnings and do some more traveling.

The store will also receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning lottery ticket.
