$1 million Powerball ticket was forgotten for months in woman’s wallet — until now

A lucky woman from Maryland won a whopping sum of $1 million from a forgotten Powerball ticket found in her wallet.

The winning ticket was purchased from a local convenience store located in Worcester County, Maryland. The store will receive a bonus of $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Her husband told lottery officials, “There were a lot of zeros. I thought it was some type of promotional message. I scanned it again and got the same numbers."

She plans to donate a portion of her winnings for animal rescue and play off her house with the winning amount.

Powerball is an American lottery game offered by 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, at the Florida Lottery's headquarters in Tallahassee.
