Maryland Woman Hits $50K with Birthday Lottery Pick
A Maryland woman’s birthday-inspired lottery ticket turned into a life-changing win that she described as “like a dream come true.”
It all started on an ordinary Sunday while visiting family. She stopped by a Baltimore gas station and bought a $1 Pick 5 ticket for the Aug. 29 drawing, sticking with her usual numbers—8-1-6-5-1—a combination based on her birthday.
The next day, she returned to the store to check her ticket—and was stunned when the word “Winner!” flashed before her eyes. Still in disbelief, she double-checked using the Maryland Lottery app. That’s when reality sank in: she was holding a $50,000 winning ticket.
The woman shared the exciting news with close family, who were just as shocked and thrilled. She told lottery officials she plans to use some of the winnings for home renovations while saving the rest.
Despite this being her biggest win yet, she says she isn’t planning to stop playing. “I’ve always played lottery games,” she said. “It’s part of my life, and now that I’ve won, I hope to have even more success in the future.”
