Maryland Player Scores $1 Million Powerball Prize as Jackpot Climbs to $748 Million
A lucky Powerball player in Maryland is celebrating a $1 million win after buying a ticket at a 7-Eleven in College Park for the August 1 drawing.
The winning ticket matched the first five numbers — 6, 17, 27, 38, 50 — but missed the Powerball number 5, falling just short of the jackpot.

Saturday's drawing brought plenty of reasons to celebrate across the state:
- 🎉 $1 million winning ticket sold at the 7-Eleven on Rhode Island Avenue in College Park.
- 💰 $50,000 winning ticket purchased at Max Liquors in Catonsville after matching four white balls plus the Powerball.
- 🎟️ More than 30,600 winning Powerball tickets were sold throughout Maryland for the drawing.
This marks the second straight Powerball drawing with a $1 million winner in Maryland. In the July 29 drawing, another $1 million ticket was sold at a Royal Farms store in Odenton.
Players have 182 days from the drawing date to claim their prizes.
Since no ticket matched all six numbers on August 1, the Powerball jackpot has rolled over again. The next drawing now features an estimated $748 million jackpot, with a cash option of about $325.1 million.
The jackpot has continued to grow since it was last won on May 2, while Maryland players have collected more than $6 million in Powerball prizes during that stretch.
Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and tickets are priced at $2 each.
