A Maryland man’s quick change of plans turned into a huge payday after he scored a $50,000 scratch-off win. What started as a stop to play Racetrax ended with a life-changing surprise instead.

The St. Mary’s County resident said he visited ABC Liquors in California, Maryland, but the long line for the Racetrax machine made him switch things up. Rather than wait around, he grabbed four $5 “20X the Cash” scratch-off tickets at the counter.

That last-minute decision paid off big time — one of those tickets landed him a massive $50,000 prize.
