Woman thought she was a $3 Iowa lottery winner. But there were several more zeroes

One lucky woman from Iowa won a whopping sum of $30,000 playing Iowa Lottery’s Crossword scratch-off game.

The winning ticket was sold at a Hy-Vee grocery store in Waterloo. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $300 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

She initially believed she only won $3 because she forgot to scratch off the bonus letters.

“I scanned it and didn’t believe it, so I just kept scanning it,” she told lottery officials.

She plans to use her winnings to pay bills and share with her husband and children.

The Iowa Lottery Authority is run by the state of Iowa. It is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which administers games on behalf of the member lotteries.
