The winner was in disbelief when discovered the win

A Lowell woman claimed her $50,000 prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lotter (ASL) Claim Center on March 20 from a lucky Powerball ticket.

On March 16, the winning numbers were 12, 23, 44, 57, and 61, the Powerball number was 5, and the multiplier was 2.

Goettsch, who told ASL she rarely plays lottery games, purchased Saturday's winning ticket on the Jackpocket mobile app on a whim.

"I got paid, and I thought, 'Eh, I’ll get a lottery ticket,'" she said.

The day after her purchase, Goettsch received an email congratulating her on her big win. However, she was wary of the news. "Oh, this is a scam," she thought.

To verify the authenticity of the email, she checked the Jackpocket app for confirmation.

To her surprise, she matched four of the five winning numbers, as well as the Powerball number. Now, she is $50,000 richer. "It’s still not real," she told ASL. "It hasn’t set in yet." The Northwest Arkansas woman said she plans to pay off some bills with the winnings.

The next Powerball drawing will be on Saturday, March 23, at 10 p.m.
