A Lamesa resident recently hit it big in the Texas Lottery's scratch-off game, claiming a $250,000 prize.

The lucky winner, whose name was not released, purchased the winning ticket at a local convenience store. According to lottery officials, the Lamesa resident purchased a $50 ticket from the Diamond Millions game and scratched it to reveal the winning combination.

The individual claimed the prize at the Texas Lottery Claim Center in Austin. Lottery players in Texas have won more than $10.5 billion in prizes since the game began in 1992.

The proceeds from lottery ticket sales are used to fund public education initiatives in the state.

The Texas Lottery offers a variety of games, including scratch-off tickets, multi-state lotteries, and draw games such as Powerball and Mega Millions. Players must be at least 18 years old to participate in the lottery.
