$31-million Lotto Max ticket sold in New Waterford

A winning Lotto Max lottery ticket worth $31 million was sold in New Waterford for last month’s $70-million Lotto Max drawing.

The winning ticket was purchased online from the lottery website by Greg Abbass of New Waterford, N.S.

Abbass is a regular Lotto Max player and he buys one ticket for each draw on alc.ca.

He felt motivated to buy an extra ticket when the May 31 jackpot reached $70 million and he realized there were another 33 chances at a big payout via Maxmillion.

The winner told lottery officials that he can now afford things he could not afford in the past.

Maxmillions are additional $1-million prizes that are drawn when the Lotto Max jackpot reaches $50 million.

Lotto Max is a Canadian lottery game coordinated by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, as one of the country's three national lottery games.

Lotto Max drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday.
