The Virginia Lottery reported that Mary Hargis, still in disbelief, won a staggering $100,000 from the scratch-off ticket. In a statement released on December 18, Hargis expressed her astonishment, saying, "It feels unreal. I never in a million years thought that today I would be cashing in a winning lottery ticket!"
Beating the odds at 1-in-480,000, Hargis clinched the game's top prize. While the news release didn't specify the post-tax amount, Hargis plans to allocate her winnings to help her family and intends to purchase a new car.
