$3 lottery ticket left Iowa woman ‘excited and shaking.’ But her husband was skeptical

One lucky woman from Lake Mills named Debra Christianson won a whopping sum of $3 million playing Iowa Lottery's $30 Crossword game.

The winning ticket was sold at a local convenience store in Lake Mills. The ticket distributor will get a bonus of $30,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

With her husband’s help, they counted the numbers and realized she was the jackpot winner.

“I couldn’t tell if it was nine or 10 words, I was just so excited and shaking,” she told lottery officials while accepting her prize on Monday, Jan. 30.

She plans to use the winnings toward home improvement costs and save the rest for future uses.

The Iowa Lottery Authority is run by the state of Iowa. It is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which administers games on behalf of the member lotteries.
