Kentucky Man's $20 Gas Station Stop Turns Into Over Half a Million Dollar Lottery Win

A routine gas station visit turned into a life-altering event for Michael Schlemmer from Corbin, Kentucky.

With only $40 in his pocket, Schlemmer decided to spend $20 on a " $1,000,000 Luck" scratch-off card from the Kentucky Lottery at a Convenient Food Mart on U.S. Highway 25 West.

His car was running on fumes, coasting into the gas station. It was upon returning to his vehicle that Schlemmer realized he had won the top prize as he scratched the ticket.

In a state of disbelief, he immediately went back to the store to confirm his win. After tax deductions, Schlemmer collected a lump sum payout of $616,330 from the Kentucky Lottery Headquarters.
