A Kentucky couple’s weekly lottery habit finally paid off — big time. Thanks to a free promotional Powerball ticket, they snagged a $50,000 win without spending a dime.

Here’s the twist: they didn’t even realize it right away. The winning ticket, picked up in Louisville during the First Friday Promotion, sat unnoticed for two weeks while the woman was traveling through Europe.

When she finally got home, she decided to scan her tickets using the lottery app.

“It popped up that we had won $50,000. I couldn’t believe it — I even scanned it again to be sure. I got goosebumps,” she shared.

 

After taxes, the Kentucky Lottery handed over a $36,000 check to the lucky pair. The couple, who’ve been loyal players for years, say they plan to pay off their mortgage and donate to their church — all thanks to a free ticket that turned into a small fortune.
