Iowa State Patrol Trooper Chase Carruthers is home and continuing his recovery after being injured in a line-of-duty shooting last month.
Carruthers was released from the hospital Friday after spending several weeks recovering from injuries sustained in an August 18 shooting in Stuart, about 40 miles west of Des Moines.
He was among the first law enforcement officers to respond to a report of shots fired at a home in the community.
The Iowa State Patrol and Carruthers’ family expressed their appreciation for the public’s support throughout his recovery.
The family is now asking for continued privacy as Carruthers focuses on healing at home during this difficult time.
