Indiramma Towers Housing Lottery Set for November 3 and 4
The housing board is set to conduct two online lotteries on November 3 and 4 to distribute Indiramma Towers housing units among eligible applicants across Telangana.
The first lottery, scheduled for November 3, will select beneficiaries for flats in four assembly constituencies: Musheerabad, LB Nagar, Chandrayangutta, and Goshamahal. Officials have already completed the preliminary verification of applications.
A second mop-up lottery will take place on November 4 to allot vacant flats across 16 other constituencies. These units became available after some earlier selections were cancelled due to eligibility issues.
Housing Board vice-chairperson VP Gautham confirmed that both lotteries will use an online e-lottery system to ensure a fair and transparent selection process. The proceedings will also be streamed live on the Housing Department's YouTube channel and other social media platforms.
Why Are Additional Flats Available?
Under the pilot phase of the Indiramma Housing Scheme, construction of 480 homes was launched in each assembly constituency within the Outer Ring Road limits, excluding the Cantonment area.
Although beneficiaries were initially selected through lotteries in 16 constituencies, later field inspections uncovered several problems:
- Some selected applicants did not live in the respective constituencies.
- Certain beneficiaries could not afford the required payments.
- Others were found to already own houses.
Following these checks, several housing units remained unoccupied. The November 4 mop-up lottery will offer these vacant units to other eligible applicants from the existing application list.
