Man buys North Carolina lottery ticket on way to work and wins big. ‘Lunch is on you’

A lucky man from Hubert named Jamie Johnson won a whopping sum of $100,000 playing North Carolina Education Lottery’s 200X The Cash ticket game.

The winning ticket was sold at Handy Mart in Cape Carteret. The store will receive a bonus of $1,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

The man said even his wife didn’t believe him at first when he shared the news.

The winner recently claimed his winning amount from the lottery headquarters and took home $71,259 after state and federal taxes.

He plans to do some home repairs and help pay for his daughter’s college tuition with the winning amount.

North Carolina has one of the United States' youngest lottery systems, having been enacted in 2005.
