Ontario health-care worker scores $250,000 lottery win

A health-care worker from Lanark Highlands, Julie Leidecker, won the second prize of $249,324 in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Dec. 14.

Leidecker, who plays the same set of random numbers for every draw, was unaware of her win for two weeks until she checked her email and found a message from OLG stating that she had won big.

She plans to pay off her vehicle and mortgage and save the rest for her retirement. Leidecker expressed her excitement and said that this year would be eventful and better than ever.

Lotto 6/49 is one of three national lottery games in Canada. Lotto 6/49 led to the gradual phase-out of that type of lottery game in Canada.

Winning numbers are drawn by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) every Wednesday and Saturday, executed with a random number generator.
