Forgotten Ticket Turns Into a $50K Powerball Surprise
A Jackson County woman got the surprise of her year after a Powerball ticket she’d forgotten about turned out to be a $50,000 winner.
She bought the ticket back on Oct. 15 at a QuikTrip in Kansas City, matching four of the five white balls (10, 13, 28, 34, 47) plus the Powerball (15). At the time, she assumed it was just another free-ticket win and tossed it aside for weeks.
But that second glance changed everything.
-
“I checked it on Monday and it said, ‘Winning ticket – see Lottery,’” she said.
-
After looking up the numbers online: “Oh my God, I won $50,000!”
Now that the shock has worn off, she already has plans for the cash.
Top priorities:
• finishing the house she’s currently building
• treating herself to a freeze dryer to level up her home canning game
