James Devine from Estero, Florida, recently won $2.6 million in a lottery prize after buying a $4,000,000 Platinum Jackpot instant ticket while visiting family in Massachusetts in February.

The winning ticket was sold in Chicopee, 90 miles west of Boston. Estero is about 20 miles south of Fort Myers, Florida. The store will receive a bonus of $2,000 for selling the winning scratch-Off ticket.

This was the first winning ticket in the Platinum Jackpot game. Devine opted to accept the one-time cash option for his prize money and returned home to Florida with his winnings.

He shared with lottery officials that he plans to use some of the money to purchase a new golf cart so he and his wife can travel around their community. Devine's unexpected lottery win adds to the list of lucky Florida residents who have won big prizes this year.
