Double Delight in Durham Region: Two Lucky Lottery Winners Strike Gold

Durham Region celebrates two fortunate lottery winners, Bryan Hogan and Gerrie Roerdink, who recently struck it big with their lottery tickets.

Bryan, a 46-year-old from Oshawa, won a remarkable $500,000 Maxmillions prize, along with an extra $20, on the July 25 Lotto Max draw.

Initially thinking he won around $500, he was ecstatic to discover the true extent of his win after scanning the ticket with the OLG app.

The winning ticket was a free play, bought at Tom’s Food Store on Nonquon Road. For Bryan, life is about to get a bit easier as he plans to savor this surreal experience.

On the other hand, 78-year-old Gerrie Roerdink from Whitby is taking home $250,000 after scratching out the right letters on an Instant Crossword Deluxe card.

He had a funny feeling about the ticket and playfully joked with the cashier that they would be in trouble if he didn't win.

Little did he know, his instinct was right, and his daughter confirmed the win using the OLG app.

With the prize, Gerrie plans to get his car fixed and visit relatives in Holland. The community celebrates the joy of these two lucky winners from Durham Region.
