Woman Missed Powerball by One Number, Still Walked Away Victorious

Ana Contreras, a resident of California, was just one number away from sharing the record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot.

The lucky winner, Edwin Castro, purchased the winning ticket from Stues Dairy in Gardena, California, making him the sole recipient of the prize. However, Contreras's ticket was still worth over a million dollars, netting her $1,149,661.

While it's unknown how she plans to spend her winnings, Castro used his to purchase a luxurious 15,000-square-foot mansion designed by Roman James.

The mansion boasts an infinity pool, a giant fireplace, five bedrooms, six bathrooms, two powder rooms, and breathtaking views of the L.A. skyline, the Pacific Ocean, and Catalina Island. Castro, believed to be in his 30s, did not make an appearance at the press conference held after his win, and little else is known about him.
