Man turns around a bad day after buying winning $50K lottery ticket in Louisville

Ryan Gilkey of Lebanon Junction, Kentucky, was having a rough day when he decided to buy a lottery scratch-off ticket from M&S Food Mart in Louisville.

He purchased a 500X scratch-off ticket and scratched it off in his truck on the way home from work.

To his surprise, he matched the number 9 on the last spot of the ticket, winning the game's big prize of $50,000. Gilkey couldn't believe his luck and started shaking. He called his wife, who also couldn't believe it, and drove to the lottery headquarters the next day to claim his prize.

After taxes, Gilkey received a check for $35,750, which he said would come in handy as they are expecting their second child. M&S Food Mart will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
