Big Changes Coming to Lotto as National Lottery Adds Second Weekly Draw Round

Double the Draws, Double the Excitement: Lotto Rules Are Changing

The National Lottery is shaking things up with a brand-new Lotto format launching on June 7 — and it could mean a lot more winners every week. Starting then, every Wednesday and Saturday draw will feature two separate rounds, giving players double the chances to win without paying anything extra.

Players will still choose six numbers from 1 to 59 or go with a Lucky Dip, and tickets will stay at £2 per line. The big difference is that the same line of numbers now gets entered into two draws instead of one.

Here’s how the new setup works:

  • Round One: Six main numbers and a Bonus Ball are drawn from 59 balls.
  • Round Two: A completely separate second draw takes place with another set of 59 balls.
  • Match two or more numbers in either round and you could win cash prizes.

The National Lottery says the update is expected to create more than twice as many millionaires, making the game even more exciting for regular players.

Prize amounts are staying familiar:

  • Match all 6 numbers ? win a share of the jackpot
  • Match 5 numbers + Bonus Ball ? up to £1 million
  • Match 5 numbers ? £1,000
  • Match 4 numbers ? £50

The popular “Must Be Won” rollover system is also sticking around. Lotto can still roll over up to five times, with the sixth consecutive draw becoming a guaranteed payout event if nobody lands the jackpot earlier.
