A winning $250,000 lottery ticket is sold out in Spokane recently

Spokane resident, Shannon Fernandez, won $250,000 from Washington's Lottery and she used the money to buy her "dream home." Fernandez said she purchased two "Diamond Crossword" scratch tickets from a Walmart lottery vending machine located at 9212 N. Colton St. in Spokane.

She continued her day and played once she got home. “At first, I counted 10 complete words, which is a $1,000 prize and that’s pretty cool since the most I’d ever won before is maybe $150,” said Fernandez.

“Then I kept looking and found an eleventh word, which meant a $5,000 prize. I was so excited that I called my husband, and we planned to celebrate later that night with a nice dinner.”

According to a press release, Fernandez took her winning ticket to a nearby Safeway for someone to confirm her winnings.

The store clerk said "I'm flabbergasted," after scanning her ticket, but did not tell her how much she won.
