A scratch off lottery player from Fleming Island scoops a big jackpot

A Fleming Island man won a $1 million prize from a scratch-off game he purchased from a grocery store in Orange Park.

A news release by the Florida Lottery Wednesday said Gustavo Cagigas, 59, purchased the scratch-off ticket from the Amoco Express Food Mark on Kingsley Avenue for $50.

The ticket Cagigas bought is called the $1,000,000 A Year FOR LIFE SPECTACULAR. The chance of winning something in this game is 1-in-4.5, the Florida Lottery says.

The ticket scored Cagigas a $1 million prize, which he took as a lump-sum payment of $640,000. The grocery store received a $2,000 commission bonus for selling the winning ticket.
