A Matthews woman scoops $250,000 win in scratch off lottery game

A scratch off lottery player from Matthews scoops a big jackpot recently

Kimberly Mahon, of Matthews, tried her luck with a $5 scratch-off and won the top prize of $250,000, N.C. Education Lottery officials announced Wednesday.

She purchased her winning 20X The Cash ticket from Stallings Superette on Potters Road in Stallings. She took home $178,751 after taxes.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.

They also announced that the winner has only 180 days from the day of the lottery draw to claim the winning prize money.

The winner told the lottery officials that he will be paying all his due bills after claiming the winning prize money.
