A Louisville woman scoops $50,000 recently in a lottery game

A Louisville woman won big on the lottery, but she didn't know it for a week. According to Kentucky lottery officials, Nicole Workman won $50,000 on an $8 Powerball, but she didn't check the ticket until a week after she bought it.

Workman said she got her ticket on June 5 at the Kroger on North Hubbards Lane. She went last week and scanned her ticket at Kroger.

That's when she saw $50,000 appear on the monitor. “I was like, ‘What, is this real?’ I went through, and I had to (scan) it again.

Oh my gosh, I couldn’t believe it," Workman said. “I took a picture really quick. This is not a joke!" Workman said she went online to the Kentucky Lottery’s website later that night to pull up the winning numbers.

“When I saw my numbers there, it was extra validation,” she said. She ended up taking home the game's third prize.
