A Kirksville guy scoops a big jackpot recently in a lottery game

A man who bought a big winning lottery ticket in Kirksville thought he might be seeing things when he looked at the amount.

When he scratched off the “Fun 5s” scratchers ticket he bought at Conoco Food Mart on North Baltimore Street, he needed a second opinion to believe his $100,000 prize was real.

The man said he drove to his girlfriend's house to show it to her to make sure he was reading it right.

After she looked it over, she called her son into the room to double-check the ticket. He brought his calculator with him, just in case.

So far, “Fun 5s” players statewide have won over $6.1 million in prizes playing the $5 game.

There are currently over $8.7 million in unclaimed prizes, including three more top prizes of $100,000 and two prizes of $25,000.
