A fortunate guy from Iowa grabs a big jackpot worth of $1 million
If you bought a lottery ticket in Nevada, Iowa, for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing, make sure to check your numbers because some lucky player won $1 million.
The winning ticket matched the game’s first five numbers – 7-9-15-19-25 – to win $1 million but missed the Mega Ball, 4, which would’ve bumped the prize to $20 million.
The Casey's store in Nevada where the ticket was sold will receive a $1,000 bonus, according to Iowa Lottery officials.
It happens to be the same store at which a $1 million-winning Powerball ticket was purchased in April 2019. That prize was never claimed.
It’s Iowa's third lottery win of at least $500,000 just this month. A Dubuque man claimed a $40.03 million Lotto America jackpot, according to a news release from Iowa Lottery, and a Davenport man claimed a $500,000 top prize in an Iowa Lottery scratch game.
Lottery officials reminded players in the release that prizes of $1 million or more must be claimed at Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
