A big $2 million lottery ticket is sold out in Louisa recently
There is a lottery ticket worth $2 million in Louisa County. Virginia Lottery reports that someone bought a Powerball ticket for the Wednesday drawing that matched the first five numbers.
According to a release, the winning ticket was purchased at Louisa Mini Mart on West Main Street in Louisa. The ticket was only missing the Powerball number, which would normally mean it would be worth $1 million.
However, the person who bought it also paid for Power Play, which doubled the prize. Virginia Lottery says this ticket is one of five sold across the country that matched the first five numbers from the Dec. 20 drawing, and it is the only one to do so in Virginia.
Otherwise, there was no jackpot winner, so the grand prize for the drawing on Saturday will increase to about $620 million.
The person who has the $2 million ticket has 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize.
Virginia Lottery urges this person to immediately sign the back of their ticket before doing anything else to establish their ownership of it.
