A fortunate resident from Marion scoops a big jackpot recently

A quick stop for an energy drink turned into a big win for one Pee Dee man.

The South Carolina Education Lottery said the lucky winner bought a ticket at the Cruizers store on Highway 76 in Marion.

That ticket he bought in the Cash Payout game ended up winning the top prize of $300,000. Lottery officials said the win odds were 1 in 984,000, with three more top prizes remaining.

The winner told lottery officials he plans to take care of a few things for himself and help others with the prize. “It’s a miracle,” he said.

The Cruizers store also earned a $3,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

The winner has to reach the nearest lottery headquarters for further documentation formalities and for claiming their winning prize money, lottery officials said.
