Grady Watkins Jr. of Ocean Isle Beach recently tried his luck on a $20 Platinum scratch-off ticket and won a $100,000 prize.
Watkins bought his ticket from the Food Lion on South Willis Drive in Shallotte.
He arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to collect his winnings and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,256, according to a news release from the North Carolina Education Lottery.
If anybody has a winning ticket, the player must keep it safe and claim the winning prize by visiting the nearest lottery headquarters. The player can also have the facility of calling or seeing mail to start the claiming process.
